Life Science Network is launching a new open-source initiative to help EU-funded research projects build professional dissemination websites in minutes while eliminating unnecessary duplication across European science. We are now inviting sponsors and strategic partners to help turn this vision into reality.
Every year, thousands of research projects receive funding through Horizon Europe, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), ERC, COST Actions, and other European programs. Alongside scientific discoveries, these projects are expected to communicate their work effectively to the public audience.
Yet there is one problem that almost every consortium faces: they build the same website again and again.
A Repeating Problem Across European Research
Most EU-funded projects spend thousands of euros creating a custom project website. These sites usually contain similar features: partner pages, news updates, publications, events, and other information.
When the project ends, many of these websites gradually disappear. Domains expire, hosting stops and information about valuable publicly funded research becomes harder to find.
This isn't simply a technical issue. It's a structural inefficiency affecting research across Europe.
A Different Approach
Life Science Network is developing a new open-source modular platform together with a central federated hub designed specifically for EU-funded research projects. Instead of every consortium starting from scratch, projects will be able to launch a professional, compliant dissemination website within minutes using shared infrastructure built for European research.
The platform includes the features that research consortia repeatedly need, without requiring technical expertise. Instead of rebuilding identical functionality for every grant, researchers can focus on communicating their science.
Preserving Publicly Funded Research
Perhaps the biggest long-term benefit is automatic archiving. When a project finishes, its website should not disappear.
Instead, the central hub is designed to preserve project outputs indefinitely, protecting the dissemination materials that were created using public funding.
This helps reduce what many projects currently experience: websites that vanish only a few years after successful completion.
An Invitation to Shape Europe's Research Infrastructure
Our ambition is larger than creating another project website.
We want to create a shared digital infrastructure that every European research consortium can benefit from. A platform where projects remain independent, researchers stay connected, and publicly funded knowledge remains accessible long after individual grants have ended.
If your organization shares this vision, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can build it together.
