Dated public evidence and known genes for retrospective evaluation of gene prioritization

Preprint Created on 06 Nov 2026 bioRxiv

Retrospective evaluation of gene prioritization needs evidence that was public before the evaluated genes became known. Public resources are open and reproducible, but are distributed as current releases that also contain evidence produced after the genes became known. This Data Descriptor presents per-gene evidence tables for four areas (oncology, inflammatory bowel disease, metabolism and psoriasis) from public resources. Every feature carries a time axis, the date of its release in a calendar of 183 archived releases of 20 sources, and a leakage axis, a provenance class (A to E) with two risk grades that define five feature sets. Nineteen lists of known genes are dated by the first trial, study, release or classification that supports each gene. They cover targets of a kind of drug, targets of drugs tested in a disease, and genes associated with a disease. The oncology lists also carry the first day the trial registry showed the trial.
