Biomolecules undergo phase transitions—such as liquid demixing, aggregation, and crystallization—governing cellular function and biopharmaceutical processes. However, quantitative data on their thermodynamics and kinetics are limited due to the high sample and time demands of bulk methods. This project uses droplet microfluidics for high-throughput, low-volume analysis, enabling precise mapping of phase behavior and kinetics. Complemented by bulk assays and modeling, the work advances fundamental understanding and industrial applications. As a founding member, you will help establish lab infrastructure, including a process-scale precipitation platform, and mentor PhD students.
