The Anatomy Centre within the Department of Physiology, Development & Neuroscience (PDN) is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Anatomy Support Technician to join its busy and collaborative team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of both Human and Veterinary Anatomy teaching, which is wide in its variety throughout the year. The post will support practical class teaching for ~ 350 students across both Veterinary and Human Dissection Rooms, while also contributing to activities across both facilities as part of an integrated anatomy service.
Working closely with the technical team, academic and other teaching staff, you will help facilitate practical teaching sessions and support the day-to-day operation of the Anatomy Centre. This includes preparing teaching materials and specimens, maintaining equipment and facilities, and assisting in specialised preparation, embalming, and storage areas. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative approach across both human and veterinary anatomy provision, supporting shared resources, best practice, and operational excellence.
As part of the role, you will work with cadaveric material and animal specimens, helping to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality learning environment for students.
You will be educated to GCSE/NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in a science-related subject, or possess relevant practical experience. The successful candidate will have good organisational and IT skills, as well as be able to work effectively as part of a team. Good communication skills are also essential for the role, which involves interacting with a range of stakeholders in the Department, the wider University and externally, so the ability to build positive working relationships is essential.
