Job Summary The Nolan and Cao Groups at Caltech BBE Division are seeking a temporary research technician to assist the study of plant- and insect-parasitic nematodes and their associated microbial consortia. We aim to develop maintenance protocols such as cryopreservation, mass production, and development of CRISR-Cas9, RNAi, and synthetic biology tools in nematode and bacterial partners. Essential Job Duties Manage and prepare solutions and reagents for plant- and insect-parasitic nematodes. Maintenance of parasitic nematodes and their associated microbes, sample preparation, record-keeping, imaging analysis, and interpretation of results. ' Assist the PI in managing lab purchases and organization. Maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment by following proper safety protocols. Basic Qualifications Prior laboratory experience working with microbial symbiosis. Experience in molecular tool development in non-traditional and emerging model systems. Hands-on experiences working with plant- or insect-parasitic nematodes. A good track record of managing wet-lab responsibilities. Strong organizational skills.
