The Accessibility & Disability Resource Centre (ADRC) is seeking to appoint a Disability Adviser to join its Disability Advisory Team.
As a Disability Adviser, you will provide specialist advice, guidance, and support to prospective and current disabled students, as well as to colleagues who support disabled students across the University. You will work collaboratively with academic departments, Colleges, professional service teams, and other stakeholders to facilitate inclusive learning environments and ensure students receive appropriate support throughout their studies.
Reporting to the Senior Adviser, Disability Advisory Team, you will manage a diverse caseload, develop support recommendations, and contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of the University's disability support services.
You will hold a degree (or possess equivalent relevant professional experience). A postgraduate qualification in a disability-related field and professional accreditation (such as membership of the National Association of Disability Practitioners (NADP) would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will have recent experience of advising disabled students within a higher education or comparable setting, together with a thorough understanding of disability legislation, regulatory guidance, and current practice relating to disability inclusion in tertiary education. Knowledge of, and a commitment to, the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) would be highly desirable.
You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. You will be organised, able to prioritise competing demands, and comfortable working to deadlines within a busy and dynamic student support environment. A strong commitment to equality, inclusion, and student-centred practice is essential.
