Research Assistant in lung-on-chip technologies and studies of airway tissues

The Cicuta Lab at the Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, invites applications for a Research Associate to work on a research grant from the Wellcome Trust investigating airway tissues, and specifically their growth, their motile cilia activity, and the physical properties of mucus expressed by the cells. The current project will investigate these tissues with a specific focus on developing new microfluidics based devices to increase experimental throughput and achieve tissues matching closely physiological properties.

Appointment as a Research Assistant is dependent on having been awarded (or being close to being awarded) an undergraduate degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Biotechnology or related disciplines. The successful candidate would be employed as a Research Assistant and also accepted for admission as a PhD student with the University, subject to the candidate satisfying the University's admissions requirements for PhD study

The role-holder will be expected to participate actively in collaborations with other researchers and PhD students working on related projects, as well as our Wellcome Trust partners in Cardiff University. Candidates will ideally have experience with aspects of cell culture and/or microfluidics or biosensing devices.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3.5 years in the first instance.
