Responsibilities
The Development Program Director assigned to Development Operations reports to the Vice Chair of Development Operations and partners closely with the Vice Chair to advance special operations projects. This role focuses on project management, cross-functional coordination, and operational excellence across the Development Operations vertical. The Program Director serves as a key partner to the Vice Chair and operations team leaders, convening stakeholders, coordinating across the vertical, and ensuring the successful execution of strategic initiatives. This role contributes to the development and refinement of strategic priorities for Development Operations vertical by synthesizing insights across initiatives and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. In partnership with the Vice Chair, the Program Director operates with delegated authority to drive project execution and escalate decisions. This position focuses on cross-functional alignment and department-level coordination rather than direct ownership of individual functions.
This assignment requires strong organizational, communication, and project management skills, along with the ability to foster cohesion and drive excellence across a complex operational environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. Must have at least 7 years of experience in programmatic leadership at a large, complex organization or at least 10 years of project management experience required. Additionally, must have demonstrated competencies in leadership, strategic thinking, project management, program management, operations, and communication. Must be able to inspire trust/confidence and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences. The ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality is essential. Master’s degree preferred. 7 years of experience in philanthropic programmatic leadership at a large, complex organization is preferred. Experience in project management, operations coordination, or strategic planning within a large, complex organization is preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects, convene diverse stakeholders, and drive initiatives to completion is strongly valued. Experience working in fundraising in healthcare or higher education is preferred.
