Responsibilities

Nuclear medicine technologists prepare and administer radioactive isotopes producing high quality images for physicians to use in diagnosing disease and that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Departments. Requires competence, as determined by competency assessments, in a variety of imaging equipment and technology. Practices proper safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients. Fosters teamwork through effective communication. Ensures high level of service to patients through proper communication, technique, and safety guidelines. Maintains flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times and lengths. Perform other functional duties as assigned to assure efficient and optimal patient care.



Qualifications

A nuclear medicine technologist must be a graduate of an accredited baccalaureate nuclear medicine technology program (as recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)). Organized, efficient and multifunctional. Ability to work independently. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates effective communication. Ability to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends.
Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience preferred.A nuclear medicine technologist must be board certified in Nuclear Medicine Technology and maintain current licensure. (NMTCB or ARRT - Nuc. Med.) 
Additional certifications may be required and determined by Radiology leadership.
Appropriate state licensure from the state in which the candidate practices (if the state requires licensure).

Rotating shifts between the hours of 7:00- 17:00, including a rotating weeknight call schedule.

Rotating weekend call, every 10th weekend.
