Job Summary The Caltech Bioinformatics Resource Center (CBRC) seeks a dedicated research technician to perform single-cell RNA-Seq, bulk RNA-Seq, and genomics bioinformatic analyses. The position will involve interacting with researchers from over 30 Caltech laboratories. Candidate must have excellent communication and time management skills and be willing to shift focus on as research priorities evolve. The candidate will receive instruction in using state of the art genomics software. Clean, well-organized and accurate recording and reporting of analyses results is required for feedback to collaborating researchers who will be developing research plans within the Center. Essential Job Duties Will perform bioinformatic analyses, including but not limited to, single-cell RNA-Seq, build RNA-Seq, ATAC and multiome analyses. Review, and collate and report on results for feedback to primary researchers. Train and assist graduate students and postdocs in running these bioinformatics protocols independently. Attendance at weekly planning meetings is expected. May also work with center staff and researchers to develop new software and analyses workflows. Basic Qualifications BS degree. Minimum 1 year of experience in bioinformatic analyses, including but not limited to, single-cell RNA-Seq, bulk RNA-Seq, ATAC, and multiome analyses. Ability to meet with students who have questions about bioinformatics around campus, and basic programming of scripts in Python and/or R. Preferred Qualifications Undergraduate coursework in bioinformatics and/or computational biology and/or statistics. Programming experience in Python and/or R. Exposure to research.
