In Parkinson's disease, subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) frequency modulated narrow beta subbands, with low-frequency stimulation (LFS) selectively attenuating 15-23 Hz power. The negative association between this subband and speech-tempo, together with LFS-related improvement in articulatory rate, suggests that 15-23 Hz subband dynamics may serve as a candidate neural marker of speech-tempo related modulation.
