Do you have teaching specialisation in drama and performance? We are looking to appoint a full-time Assistant Professor in Drama to work in our team in the School of English at the University of Nottingham. You would join us on a fixed-term teaching contract from 1 September 2026 to 31 May 2027.
You will be required to teach drama, theatre and performance, with a primary focus on drama, theatre and performance across the long twentieth and twenty-first centuries. You will be asked to contribute to a core first-year survey-type module, Drama, Theatre, Performance; to contribute and convene a second year-module, Twentieth-Century Plays; and to contribute to a final-year module, Changing Stages: Theatre Industry and Theatre Art.
You might also be asked to contribute to other teaching in drama and performance as appropriate within the workload allocation of the role. You might also be asked to contribute more widely to our teaching, tutoring and research activites in the School of English.
You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant area of drama and performance as well as have evidence of your ability to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering the above areas. Experience of teaching practical drama workshops is essential.

Selection Process

Interviews for this role will take place on Microsoft Teams. The interview process will include a short teaching presentation to staff in the School of English including colleagues from our Drama and Creative Writing section. This will be followed by a formal interview with a panel of School of English staff including colleagues from our Drama and Creative Writing section.
